5. Waimea Bay, Hawaii

Waimea Bay is located on the north shore of the Hawaiian Islands. It’s earned a spot as one of the most notable spots for surfing. In fact, it is home to the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitation, where the greatest surfers in the world attempt to outperform each other on waves that can reach as high as 60 feet!

6. Peahi, Hawaii

This Maui beach has earned the notorious nickname “Jaws” due to the utterly unpredictable nature of the waves, likened to a shark attack. During the summertime, this destination is ideal for anybody who enjoys surfing, but in the winter only diehards should even attempt it since the waves reach between 50 and 80 feet tall!

7. Seal Island, South Africa

Located near the previously mentioned Dungeons at Hout Bay, this is also another spot where sharks are known to gather. Fortunately (or unfortunately), they seem to have more of a taste for seals than surfers, but that doesn’t mean you should take your chances!
