20 Wishful Technologies That Will Never See the Light of Day (3 of 5)

Humans and technology shall always co-exist as two separate entities

A lot of speculation has been hovering in the air regarding the prospect of the ability to formulate human emotions, the working of its grey cells, and performance into a code snippet, that would favor digitization of a human brain. Unfortunately, it’s impossible for man and technology to ever exist together as one whole entity. The idea of achieving digital immortality was the brainchild of the Russian multi millionaire Dmitry Itskov, but sadly it was labeled as too far-fetched. However, we’re still in the dark regarding the complicated working of the complex spectrum of human emotions- like shedding tears even when we’re happy, and so forth. Assembling a technology to imitate the working of a human brain is therefore unfeasible. All in all, we’re destined to remain humans.

Hovering around in hoverboards – only that they will always touch the ground

Cloning of humans might not be possible, but cloning of hoverboards is; at least a tad amount. The only difference is that its structure and working are antithetical to the actual concept that feeds its existence. The ones available on Amazon, Flipkart, or eBay are affordable and have wheels to transport you from your living room to your kitchen, or maybe around your residence for a while (since it is battery operated)-but they surely don’t hover. However, the mark-1 prototype of Omni Hoverboards achieved a Guinness record by traveling a distance of about 275.9m, but their consumer prototype isn’t out yet and probably never will be.

You might have to consider your identical twin as your clone till eternity

Zhong Zhong and Hua Hua were the two animals to have been cloned by scientists in the history of life, the first-ever. No one ever tried to clone a human, because the whole idea of doing so lacked basic common sense. The technical term for cloning is called somatic cell nuclear transfer- it involves the transferring of the nucleus of the parent cell to that of an egg, passing an electric jolt through it to stimulate its division. After dividing for a few days, the cell is capable of producing an organism that is genetically similar to its parent. But cloning humans comes with its baggage of ethical issues. The idea of trying to reproduce your long-lost husband or your mother is nothing but illogical. You’ll never have the same person.

You’ll never get to have Harry Potter’s invisible cloak

Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak, Hairstyle, Sleeve

This technology is no news to us. We’ve all been Potterheads at one point in time and we have all witnessed how he wrapped himself in an invisible cloak in ‘The Philosopher’s Stone.’ It allows you to disappear from one’s vision as long as you have the cloak wrapped around you. Recent researches have proved that such a phenomenon will require a refracting medium to swerve the viewer’s sight away from the person or object. Carrying out such technology shall involve carrying around the necessary equipment to generate such a result rating such necromancy next to impossible.
