7 Highly Ineffective Behaviors of Deeply Insecure Men (3 of 4)

4. He’s always putting others down in an attempt to prop himself up

Instead of allowing other people to have their moment, an insecure man always needs to find a reason to insult and criticize others just to make him feel better about himself. On a first date, a girl might listen to his grievances with an open mind, giving him the benefit of the doubt that there’s some validity to what he’s saying. But it soon becomes clear that the issue isn’t with the people in his life, it’s that he’s jealous whenever others experience success. It’s an act that grows tired really fast, and it guarantees that any budding romantic relationship is doomed to fail.

5. He engages in performative masculinity

An insecure man feels that his masculinity is fragile and constantly under threat, so he must “prove” his manhood through behavior that is aggressive and rigid. This means getting into physical fights with other men instead of solving conflicts in a calm, mature manner. As it relates to relationships with women, such a man takes traditional gender roles to the extreme, essentially requiring any partner to seek permission to breathe. This behavior doesn’t fly in 2026, but he tries anyway.
