4 Stars Who Ditched Hollywood To Make Their Partners Happy (2 of 3)

Meghan Markle famously left her acting career behind to join the British royal family

When Meghan Markle began dating Prince Harry, she was beginning to establish herself as an actress, co-starring in the critically-acclaimed legal drama series Suits. However, when the pair got married and took the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Markle traded her Hollywood life for one as a working royal. However, as she told the BBC in a November 2017 interview, she didn’t think of it as sacrificing an acting career. Rather, she viewed it as a change and a new chapter in her life. Indeed, she knew that she was eventually going to transition from acting to something else anyway.

Although Meghan and Harry decided in 2020 that they no longer wished to be working royals, they are still finding ways to make an impact through their humanitarian work. These days they focus on giving back to others through The Archwell Foundation, named for their son. For their efforts, they won the Project Healthy Minds’ Humanitarians of the Year Award in 2025.

Christina Milan went to Hollywood with her husband Matt Pokora

Christina Milan got her start as an actress in her teens, taking on supporting roles in movies and on TV in the late 1990s and early 2000s. She caught her big break in the entertainment industry through her singing, appearing on Ja Rule’s 2000 single “Between You and Me,” which peaked at 11 on the Billboard Hot 40. She also continued to appear in movies, landing major roles in Love Don’t Cost a Thing and Man of the House. However, after marrying husband Matt Pokora in 2020, Milan decided she would cut back on her acting so that she and Matt could commute back and forth between the U.S. and France, where he was born. But in a November 2024 episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, the actress revealed that the previous year, she decided to move to France full-time. It is their intention for the two children they have together (Isaiah, born in 2020 and Kenna, born in 2021) to be raised and educated in Paris. Although Milan is currently part of the cast of Dexter: Original Sin, it doesn’t mean she’s going to return to the US anytime soon. As she told E! News in late 2024, her children are happy in France, they speak the language, and they all spend a lot of time going to the park and staying active.
