4 Stars Who Ditched Hollywood To Make Their Partners Happy (3 of 3)

Jane Fonda left Hollywood in the ’90s after marrying Ted Turner

Throughout the 1970s and 80s, Jane Fonda established herself as a huge star on the big screen, stage, and television. During that time, she won a pair of Oscars, eight Golden Globes, and a Primetime Emmy. But in 1991, after she married media mogul Ted Turner, she announced that she was stepping away from acting partly to focus on her marriage but also because she had lost interest in the business. She remained retired for nearly 15 years, returning to the silver screen in 2005 with Monster-in-Law. At that stage, she and Turner had divorced, and she felt like she couldn’t pass on the opportunity to act alongside Jennifer Lopez. She has since had something of a renaissance as an actor, appearing in several movies, TV series, and even appearing in Broadway plays.
