8 Celebrities Who Made It Big and Then Called It a Career

For most actors and musicians in the entertainment industry, fame is fleeting. You catch your lucky break, find yourself in a couple of hit movies or topping the Billboard charts, and then just as quickly as you rose, you suddenly fade off into obscurity. While this isn’t usually by choice, there are times when a celebrity decides they’ve done what they wanted to do, take the millions that they’ve earned, and walk away from it all. In this article, we look at eight such stars who called it quits on their own terms.

Freddie Prinze Jr.

The son of a young, popular comedian who committed suicide when Jr., was less than one year old, the actor who bears his father’s name carved a legacy for himself in the 90s by appearing in a bunch of rom-coms that made him a heartthrob amongst his adoring teenage fans. He seemed like a sure bet to have a long career in Hollywood, but he made the decision in the mid-2000s that he preferred a career behind the scenes instead. Other than voicing characters in animated series, we don’t hear much from him these days.
