That same year her now ex-boyfriend Chris Brown caused all of that mess by dressing as a terrorist, Rihanna got people to turn heads by dressing up as weed. Her outfit was very green – rather than her dressing up as a marijuana leaf, though she did have a weed bouquet.
Do note that this was in 2012. While weed at this point is more accepted, 2012 was very different to what it is now.
Julianne Hough As Crazy Eyes

As mentioned above, Hough turned heads when she chose to dress as Crazy Eyes from Orange Is The New Black in 2013. Because Crazy Eyes was black and Hough is obviously white, playing the part meant changing her skin with some make-up.
Once pictures of her emerged, many of her fans criticized her for making blackface, a technique that is used predominantly to mock black people.
Hough apologized for it later though, saying she was a fan of the show and she wanted to dress up as one of the characters this show created. The intention wasn’t out of disrespect or demeaning anyone, but rather love for the character and the show. Regardless, she realized how hurtful it was and apologized for it.
