From Titanic To Get Out – These 11 Iconic Movies Almost Got Completely Different Endings (3 of 4)

Thelma & Louise, 1991

Thelma& Louise, Vehicle, Motor vehicle, Hood, Sunglasses, Sky, Car, Automotive design

How it ends: Louise (played by Susan Sarandon) and Thelma (played by Geena Davis) were considered leading feminist icons at the time movie was released as there were hardly any women empowerment moments in the movies back then. The ending of this iconic movie sees the pair driving off a Grand Canyon cliff in the ’66 Thunderbird convertible as the police chase them. The two of them holding hands as they fall is one of the most iconic movie moments ever.

Alternate ending: The director of the movie, Ridley Scott wasn’t so sure of this ending written by Callie Khouri, the screenwriter. Susan had once shared in an interview that Ridley Scott was tinkering with the idea of killing just Louise, showing Louise pushing Thelma out of the car as it is about to go off the clip, thereby saving her life. However, he decided against it and the rest is history.

I Am Legend, 2007

Am Legend, Car, Dog, Land vehicle, Tire, Vehicle, Wheel, Dog breed, Window, Building, Carnivore

How it ends: Movie’s final scenes are quite heartbreaking and that iconic ending always leaves the audience divided, as the last of the scenes shows the death of Robert Neville (played by Will Smith).

Alternate ending: The director had another ending in mind where the zombies’ leader comes to Robert in order to take his loved one back, which proves that they aren’t just hateful creatures.

And most importantly, Robert doesn’t die in this version and instead leaves the city.

Alien, 1979

Ripley Alien, Head, Eye, Cat, Organ, Flash photography, Felidae

How it ends: One of the most iconic movies of all time, Alien introduced the badass Sigourney Weaver, who played the iconic Ellen Ripley, the slayer of aliens. The flick ends by showing Ripley winning the final fight against the extraterrestrials, but goes into cryo-sleep on her way back home. Believe it or not, Ridley Scott had some other ideas in mind, too.

Alternate ending: One alternate idea Ridley Scott had in mind was where an alien comes in and goes through her mask, killing her on the spot.
