Those, who grew up in the 90’s definitely remember the film Space Jam, which brought together basketball star Michael Jordan and many famous cartoon characters from the show Looney Toons. In this sequel, after 25 years, this new film is featuring LeBron James as himself and a whole host of other NBA and WNBA superstars. Expect to see athletes like Klay Thompson, Chris Paul, and Diana Taurasi in there. With Ryan Coogler and James, himself, serving as producers, they deliver this new story where James is on the search for his son Bronny as he and the Looney Toons gang sift through the Warner Bros. catalogue. Fingers crossed that we find some Harry Potter crossover in there somewhere. This film won’t be out until mid July this year.

The Suicide Squad

After The Suicide Squad was rejected by fans, this hybrid reboot/sequel to the 2016 film of the nearly-same name is an attempt to making things work. This take will have the ragtag group of antiheroes, led by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), who are going around performing good deeds in exchange for redemption or a lighter incarceration sentence. Margot Robbie and Idris Elba are merely hoping for a better result this round. They’ll have to wait a while though as this film won’t be out until early August this year.

Candyman

Despite the name of this title, this is not a warm-hearted film. Especially when you figure out this involves Jordan Peele. After the success of Get Out and Us, he is back. Directed by Nia DaCosta, this sequel to the 1992 Candyman takes place in the exact same Chicago neighborhood as the first film.

The movie’s premise follows visual artist Anthony McCoy and his art gallery director girlfriend move into the neighborhood, which is now heavily gentrified. When his career stalls, McCoy has a chance encounter with an old individual who then becomes exposed to the Candyman, bringing him back years after he first terrorized the community.

This film is expected to be out by late August this year.
