Talk show host Couric asked the trans model Carmen about her genitals after her transition

The trans model Carmen Carrera was invited to Katie Couric’s talk show. After Carmen Carrera talked about her life and modeling career on the show, Couric began to ask her how her transition had been like. She went to ask her whether it was physically painful. Carmen replied that she had just made a few little changes in her body and tried to dodge the topic of the surgery itself. Couric couldn’t grab the hint and further asked her if her genitals were still the same.

Carmen unapologetically said that she’d prefer to talk about her modeling, her family goals, her feature in the Italian Vogue, her career goals. She remarked that she wanted to let people know that trans people have more to them than just their transition.

Couric said that she was just asking because it seemed like a mystery to her and many other people. Carmen replied that it’s good now that people are more interested in learning instead of judging, but it’s personal for her, as for any other person, to talk about.

Sometime after the interview, Couric admitted that she did have a chance to cut that clip, but she didn’t because she thought it’ll be helpful and educating for the audience. But Couric has been blamed for objectifying the transgenders by asking such a question on television.

David Letterman asked Madonna to kiss a random audience member in a 1994 interview

As soon as Madonna joined David Letterman on his show, she was asked by her host to kiss a random man from the audience. This highly inappropriate request was met with ecstatic cheers from the audience. The pop star responded by asking Letterman why he’s so obsessed with her sex life. To which, he replied with a laugh and said that it’s because he has none of his own.

You’d guess that the topic would be dropped at this, but no. The host repeated his request again and Madonna just replied, “I…I can’t”. The audience responded with loud cheers again. Letterman dragged it a little too long if you ask us. But the star guest ended it finally by saying “Incidentally, you are a sick fuck. I don’t know how I get so much of s***.”
