Sofía Vergara Finally Revealed the Sad Truth Behind Her Divorce from Joe Manganiello

Sofía Vergara, known for keeping her personal life private, has recently opened up about her divorce from Joe Manganiello. In a heartbreaking revelation, Vergara explains how their age difference ultimately played a role in their breakup.

“Well, I’m newly divorced from my second husband [actor Joe Manganiello], who I was with for 10 years. My marriage broke up because my husband was younger,”  Vergara disclosed to the Spanish newspaper El País. She bravely shared that their differing views on starting a family were the main issue. Joe, who is 47 now, wanted children, but Sofía, 51, felt she was past that stage in life.

“He was keen on having kids, and I didn’t want to be an older mom. I believe that’s not fair to the child. I totally respect others who make that choice, but it’s not for me,” she said. Despite being only four years apart, their life plans were worlds apart. Vergara, who had her son Manolo in 1991 with her first husband, Joe Gonzalez, met Manganiello in her early 40s. “I had a son at 19, who’s now 32. I’m at a stage where I’m looking forward to being a grandma, not a mom again,” she expressed.

Interestingly, Sofía didn’t clarify if they had discussed family plans before marriage. Her past includes freezing pre-embryos with ex-fiancé Nick Loeb, leading to a legal tussle resolved only in 2021. This experience might have influenced her decision against expanding her family further.

While Joe Manganiello has found love again with 34-year-old actress Caitlin O’Connor, Vergara remains single but not cynical about love. She humorously sets her new love rule: “If Mr. Right comes along, he’d better have kids of his own! I’m nearing menopause, which is just nature’s course. When my son has kids, I’ll enjoy being a grandma – babysit for a bit and then get back to my life. That’s my plan.”
