Selena Gomez is fully embracing her true self. She’s comfortable in her own skin and recently shared a sincere message about body positivity, inspired by a look back at one of her old photos.

On Monday, January 22, Gomez posted a throwback photo of herself in a petite zebra bikini, followed by a more recent picture in a high-waisted bikini bottom and white tube top, showcasing her fuller figure. The singer and actress remarked that she’d never look like that again, and clearly, she’s making a statement. While Selena unquestionably still looks wonderful, the star took this chance to emphasize the significance of self-love. She acknowledges she’s not “perfect,” but she’s okay with being herself and takes pride in her identity.

“Today, I realized I will never look like this again…” she wrote over the first photo, a snapshot from Miami in 2013. The second image, from Mexico in 2023, carried another powerful message: “I’m not perfect, but I am proud to be who I am… sometimes I forget it’s okay to be me.”

This isn’t the first time the 31-year-old celebrity has opened up about her journey to self-acceptance. She’s talked before about not having a “teenager’s body” anymore and now having a more realistic and attainable figure.

Over time, Gomez has also been open about her struggle with Lupus and how her medication has made her weight change. She’s also been straightforward in responding to body-shaming comments about her appearance.

Last February, responding to online trolls, Selena boldly told them to “go away,” emphasizing her disbelief in body-shaming. As a vocal advocate about her autoimmune disease and mental health journey, the singer and actress stressed the importance of her medications over minor side effects. She concluded with a candid remark: “So, yeah, not a model. Never will be.”

Selena Gomez, through her journey and words, continues to inspire and promote a message of self-acceptance and body positivity today.
