Jennifer Love Hewitt Talks About Aging Amid Criticism Over Her Appearance

Jennifer Hewitt, the 44-year-old actress known for her roles in ’90s and 2000s hits like “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “Party of Five,” and “Heartbreakers,” is speaking out against constant comparisons to her younger self. On the “Inside of You With Michael Rosenbaum” podcast, she discussed the scrutiny she faces over her looks, saying, “She was a looker.” But she admitted that, at 23 and 25, she didn’t feel comfortable in her own skin.

Hewitt opened up about the pressure to fit a certain image from a young age, recalling how she was labeled “sexy” before she even understood what it meant. “I felt watched… I was called sexy before I ever knew what being sexy was,” she said. 

Despite feeling more secure now, Hewitt confessed to moments of self-doubt when looking in the mirror: “There’s definitely times where I look in the mirror and I’m like, ‘Oh, dear God, what has happened?'”

On the podcast, Jennifer Love Hewitt also shared her thoughts about aging in Hollywood. The 44-year-old actress remarked, “Aging in Hollywood is really hard. You can’t do anything right.”

This topic arose after she posted an Instagram photo sporting her new dark bob haircut. The actress faced backlash for appearing “unrecognizable” after a hair appointment. She explained, “I was getting my hair done, had no makeup, so I used a filter. It looked nice in the salon’s light, but I didn’t think much about it.”

In response to the backlash, Jennifer posted more photos with exaggerated filters, which led to more criticism. She joked about being natural and filter-free, only to be accused of being defensive. “I can do no right,” she said, highlighting the difficulty of pleasing everyone.

Asked why she cares about public opinion, Jennifer responded, “Pretending we don’t care is a lie.” Despite the negativity, she appreciated the kindness of many who have grown alongside her. “Most people have been very kind. They’ve grown up with me and now, they look like I do,” she stated.

“We’re all aging, maybe entering menopause, and facing what life brings,” Jennifer concluded, embracing the natural process and changes that come with age.
