5. Paraguay
Paraguay is one of those countries that likes to stay out of the spotlight and just go about its business. It doesn’t see a lot of international tourism because, frankly speaking, it is kind of a boring place without coastal beaches due to being landlocked. But if you’re someone who enjoys avoiding huge crowds of people, you will not be disappointed. Asunción is a modern, green city that is regarded as safe during daylight hours, but you probably don’t want to roam around too much in the middle of the night, as there are shantytowns even in the heart of the city.
4. Chile
As recently as 2019, Chile ranked the safest country in Latin America and 27th in the world overall. However, in recent years, civil protests against a deeply unpopular government have caused Chile’s score to slip a bit. That being said, you shouldn’t have any issues when visiting, not even in the capital of Santiago, which is nestled between two mountain ranges that serve as a stunning backdrop.
