Tree Houses at Chewton Glen, United Kingdom
The folks who run Chewton Glen, one of England’s most acclaimed country hotels, decided it was time to jump feet first into the 21st century by modernizing their facilities and adding to its amenities. So they got a hold of Blue Forest, a design studio that specializes in tree houses, and asked them to build six new, luxurious tree houses that were eco-friendly. Blue Forest said, “Of course” and got the job done. They designed the treehouses to resemble floating lily pads, with a natural, curved shape and a balcony with plenty of room to soak in the sights of Chewton Bunny Valley. Each treehouse is furnished with a hot tub, plenty of seating, and a wood-burning fireplace. Inside, locally sourced woods and materials are used so it blends in with the forested surroundings. The treehouses also feature flat-screen TVs, kitchenettes, king-size beds, and marble bathrooms. The treehouses are so well hidden that you might think you’re staying in a Hobbit hole!

Treehotel, Sweden
Treehotel is a collection of eight unique treehouses in the Swedish woods, designed by Scandinavia’s leading architects. The treehouses range in design from a bird’s nest-like structure to a mirrored cube, perfectly complimenting the surrounding forest. The newest treehouse at Treehotel is the Biosphere, designed by Danish firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The Biosphere is covered in 350 bird nests, which help to “strengthen the biosphere and natural habitat” of birds in Sweden. The treehouse also features glass walls that provide panoramic views of the forest, a rooftop terrace with 360-degree views, and see-through floor panels that let guests feel like they’re floating among the trees.
