The Coolest and Scariest Robot Projects That Are Now In Development (5 of 5)

Eelume

Car, Product, Automotive lighting

Made by Norwegians, Eelume is a serpent-like robot designed for deep underwater monitoring and repairing deep sea cables as well as irrigation tubes. As helpful as it is, it is a little unnerving as early footage showed this robot being painted black and having bright red eyes.

Fortunately, newer models have ditched that colour scheme.

Handle

Boston Dynamics Handle Robot, Wheel, Automotive design

This is Boston Dynamics’ latest and most ambitious project. Handle is best described as a strange, alien-like robot that stands at six and a half feet tall. It moves by skating on its hind legs and can reach speeds of 9 mph. However it can get down to all fours and can traverse any terrain in its path.

As for its overall purpose of the robot, the company hasn’t started. However the creators have described this robot as nightmare-inducing.

Method-2

Elon Musk Mech, Automotive design

Standing at 13 feet tall and weighing one and a half tons, this is the first manned bipedal robot to exist and it looks like it came out of a sci-fi movie. Currently, the robot is still being tested in South Korea, however, it won’t be long until the robot is able to move around on its own.

The idea with this robot is to help people work in dangerous locations, however there have been some talk of these robots lining up along the North and South Korean border to hopefully discourage hostile behaviour.

SpotMini

Boston Dynamics Spot Mini

Similar to Spot, SpotMini is the smaller version of Spot. It’s smaller, quieter, and is more energy efficient too. The idea with this bot is that it can walk around an office or home with no issues. It also comes with detachable arms making it look almost like a dinosaur.
