2. They have deep insecurities
Although extremely superficial, a lot of people who are in a committed relationship are ultimately unfaithful because they measure their self-worth in terms of the number of people they can get in the sack. Sure, they know that their partner finds them sexually desirable, but it’s something they take for granted. What they want is to walk down the street and have others find them desirable as well. It provides an ego boost. It confirms that they still have what it takes to sweep others off their feet. Ultimately, it is a cruel and disgusting way to go through life, especially when their partner is doing their best to keep them happy, but it’s just the reality with a lot of people.
3. They hit it off with someone new, even when they weren’t planning on it
This kind of affair usually starts off very innocently. They meet a new colleague that seems cool, and then they harmlessly flirt with each other a bit, and eventually become comfortable enough to confide in each other. They discover that they have a lot in common (or at least that’s what they perceive). They vent about their current relationships. They like that they can spend time together without bickering. And then gradually they fall for each other. They go to a bar and drink a little bit more than they should, and next thing they know, they’re sharing a bed together and their relationship with their partners back home are never the same.
