BMI Index
Throughout history, we’ve had our fair share of beauty standards and preferences when it comes to body proportions. The traditional ideal for feminine attractiveness revolved around a waist-hip ratio of 7:10, while women sought men with a waist-to-hip ratio of 9:10. However, a fascinating study suggests that there’s more to the story than just those numbers. It turns out that having a healthy body mass index (BMI) takes center stage. Men, it seems, are drawn to women with a BMI ranging from 18 to 20, as it signifies both good health and fertility. On the other hand, women subconsciously seek out men with a body fat percentage of around 12%. Perhaps this preference stems from the association between high body fat and various health concerns, such as heart disease, diabetes, and reduced fertility. So, while the ratios have had their time in the spotlight, it appears that a healthy BMI and body fat percentage are the true stars of attraction, promoting not only physical appeal but also overall well-being.
