Saving Files Onto a Floppy Disc

If you were a college student back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, you probably remember needing to save important files onto a floppy disc so that they could be preserved and, if necessary, opened on another computer. And if you somehow lost the disc, you were basically screwed since they couldn’t be saved on the campus computers’ hard drives. But with the rise of cloud storage, data no longer has to be lost and nothing ever has to be saved onto an external device.

Hotel Wake Up Calls

Imagine this scenario: you’re staying at a hotel and you have to wake up super early to catch a 6:00 am flight. The solution is pretty simple; just set the alarm clock on your phone. But believe it or not, if you wanted to make sure you didn’t oversleep, you would call the front desk of the hotel (using the room’s landline) and ask them to call you at your requested time. As a kid, I remember my dad doing this a few times when we were on vacation!
