Seven Simple Ways To Make Your Guy Feel Special

If Hollywood is to be believed, the only thing you need in a successful relationship is to treat your partner nicely. But in reality, maintaining a loving relationship takes significant work. For instance, there are days when you are going to annoy each other. And while you (hopefully) have a lot in common, your significant other is also bound to have hobbies and interests that completely bore you. If you are dating a guy, what can you do to keep the relationship strong? Here are seven suggestions that you should take to heart.

1. Compliment him

The stereotype is that only women like to be told they are attractive, fashionable, and intelligent. But even the most confident of guys need to be reminded from time to time that they are ridiculously good-looking. So let him know you love that outfit — whether it’s a dress shirt or an old, beat up a t-shirt that he only wears around the house — or his new haircut. Wrap your arms around him, sniff his neck and tell him his cologne drives you wild! These are simple things that make him feel great for the rest of the day!

2. Remind him that he’s appreciated

Even if your guy has a job that he enjoys, there are bound to be times when he feels stressed out and frustrated. Of course, if he hates his job, there’s a good chance he has contemplated leaving, but sticks to it for the sake of you. Although times are changing, men are still, by and large, the breadwinners in the family. But they want to know that you value them for more than just the money they bring home. So when they’ve had a difficult day at work, take the time to remind them that they are loved and that they always have your support.

3. Keep the romance going

After being with somebody for a while, they stop being “new” to you. And, of course, as you age you are no longer the young, spirited couple that you were back in the day. But that doesn’t mean the romance has to stop. Plan getaways for just the two of you. Or if you’ve got no time to fly to the other side of the world, stay the night at a hotel even if it’s in the same town you live in. Remember that he doesn’t have to be a sex god to be your sex god.

4. Give him space

It can be difficult to acknowledge that sometimes your guy needs some time away from you. This doesn’t mean they love you any less, it’s just that everybody needs a break from time to time. This might mean letting him get a drink with his co-workers once a week after they clock out. Or giving him a chance to pursue hobbies that might not be of interest to you. Likewise, you can use this time to enjoy a bit of alone time by planning your own activities. The time you spend apart will actually allow you to appreciate the time you spend together!

5. Put down your phone

This is a difficult habit to quit, but when you’re spending time with your boyfriend or husband, it’s really important to focus the attention on him, not on the tweets and Instagram posts. Social media can always wait. Of course, there are times when you have to take a phone call or answer a text message when an urgent situation arises, but have the courtesy to explain that the babysitter is calling or a colleague has an important work-related question that needs answering. Once you’ve taken care of the situation, return your eyes to him.
