You’ve lost a loved one
When a friend or family member passes away, you’ll look for comfort in any way you can. But if seeking out a relationship is the way you cope, the results will not be healthy. Dealing with death already involves an array of emotions, and when you mix this with all of the feelings of the beginning of a relationship, it can become a toxic mix. You also don’t want a situation where you begin to recover emotionally from the death and then ditch your partner after deciding you don’t need his/her support anymore.
You aren’t great at relationships
It might not necessarily be a problem with you. You might just be seeking out the wrong partners. Perhaps they are jerks or you’ve just been suffering from bad luck. Or maybe you suffer from low self-esteem, aren’t very good at communicating your problems, or your expectations are unrealistic. Regardless, if you’ve been in a string of terrible relationships, you should take some time to assess the situation and take a break. Being single is the best way to do this.
You’re still figuring out what you want
Still trying to figure out what you want? Rest assured, you’re not alone! It takes time to get that all sorted out, and getting into a relationship will only complicate matters. It’s impossible to know what you want in a partner if you don’t know what you want out of life! Or even worse, you end up with somebody who sets your path for you, but it’s not at all what you want. It is important to make goals and develop direction in your life. So stay single for a while and figure it out!
