9 Tips to Help You Start Dating Again After a Breakup (3 of 3)

Be Realistic

Everyone’s probably thrilled that you’re putting yourself back out there, but don’t get too excited. As we’ve mentioned before, the first few dates are probably going to be bad. Heck, the first fifty dates might be bad. You need to be aware of the fact that this is a situation you can’t force and shouldn’t force, so just let it happen. If the date is bad, move over to the next one. No big deal.

Have Fun With It

The worst thing you can do is go out on dates because you feel like you have to. If you don’t want to go on a date, don’t. It’s your life. Just keep thinking positive and happy thoughts and don’t do anything you don’t want to and you’ll be fine in the long run. Patience, honesty, and fun is what it’s all about in life – and especially in relationships.

Be Yourself

Maybe it’s your fault that your last relationship broke off, or maybe you think it is. Whatever the case, don’t try to change yourself. If your ex couldn’t be with you because of some weird quirk you have, find someone that can. There’s nothing to gain from changing yourself because sooner or later that quirk is going to pop right back up, and you’ll be back to square one.
