There are several easy solutions to this when you look at the specific causes of caffeine crashes. However, getting into specifics, some good ideas are:

  • To drink equal parts of water for every cup of coffee
  • To reduce the amount of sugars, sweeteners or syrup or switching to stevia and monk fruit
  • To use non-dairy creamers like soy, almond, goat, or coconut. Cow dairy products may contain tryptophan, an amino acid that’s been linked to sleepiness
  • And to reduce the added sugar that’s in dairy or nondairy products that are unsweetened

Of course, there are. Going back to the causes of caffeine crashes, there are several things to consider. First of which is drinking more water beyond what we’ve mentioned above. Relying on the water will flush your system and is a more natural way to feel energized. Some other options are:

  • To be more mindful of your sleep schedule. Create bedtime rituals to help you sleep better or get to bed at an earlier time. Always aim for six to eight hours of restful sleep
  • To limit blue light exposure up to an hour before bed
  • To sleep in a room that has windows and good natural light
  • To avoid intake of caffeine six hours before your bedtime. By doing so, your body will have a tough time processing it and won’t be able to wind down properly
  • To think about reducing caffeine intake by choosing low-caffeine coffee (like decaf), or look for other caffeine sources like matcha.
