This Has Nothing To Do With Gender Anymore
Earlier studies in personal power showed that power was hardly ever balanced in past relationships. This is significant, since past relationships tended to have the men making more decisions than women.
As society has evolved we’ve all moved away from gender roles. As a result, the power dynamics have shifted. You’ve started to see this more and more in western societies.
Although, Men Still Have More Power In Traditional Senses
But despite all these power shifts, men still have some positional power. Society still pays men higher incomes and offers more educational opportunities. Men also have been programmed further to make decisions more frequently.
These things are still being worked on to this day, but despite that still being our reality, those kinds of positional power had little influence on the quality of the relationships. In fact, this study revealed women were more satisfied with their relationships when their partner felt like he was in charge.
Furthermore, the happy couples in the study stated that they and their partner were able to voice their preferences on the things they cared the most about.
