This study isn’t the first of its kind. Many studies in the past have linked a person’s voice to their chances of two-timing their mate. Research published in 2020 in Personality and Individual Differences made a deep examination of the connection between a high-toned voices in males and their faithfulness. It was performed by recording short voice clips of 116 males and 145 females, which were then studied for their pitch level. The participants were then handed out a questionnaire that required them to rate themselves from 1 to 7 on their likelihood of staying faithful in a relationship.

The findings were quite interesting. Although no connection could be found between voice pitch and infidelity in females, a link was present in their male counterparts. The authors of the study noted that this could be due to the fact that both qualities are the result of the same biological influence, which is the level of testosterone.

The study pointed to the fact that many studies in the past have found a link between masculine characteristics and an increased perception of attractiveness.

This further meant that they would have more sexual partners, and thereby, were more likely to cheat even when in a committed relationship.

One interesting research was published in 2019 in Royal Society Open Society journal that laid down a similar connection. It was conducted by handing out photographs of 189 adults to the participants. They were asked to make an estimate of the different people’s likelihood of being unfaithful based solely on their facial features. Roughly 290 men and 470 women assessed and rated the photographs of women and around 300 males and 450 females evaluated the snaps of males and gave them a number between 1 to 10. Additionally, those people in the pictures had previously been asked and their answers were noted regarding their faithfulness in their previous relationships and whether they made someone cheat their partner in the past. The pictures had also been given a rating on attractiveness, untrustworthiness, as well as masculinity or femininity. On matching the ratings with the information gathered, it was found out that both the genders correctly identified a higher likelihood of cheating in men. The primary feature that made them rank a person higher was their apparent masculinity.

The authors of the study concluded that the raters aptly judged unfaithfulness in men by basing their decision on how masculine they appeared. As a matter of fact, it is a chief signifier of their desire to have multiple short-term relationships.

Although people with a deeper voice or masculine traits have been ranked higher on the unfaithfulness scale, those in happy committed relationships have no cause to worry. Unless your partner has been acting differently lately, there really is no need to pester them with unnecessary questions. You don’t want to cause trouble to your happy-going love life by making your partner feel you don’t fully trust them. Instead – opt for a deep and honest conversation with them about the troubles that are bothering them.
