Contrary to what many believed – that is sharing of passwords would be in the best interest of the relationship, 31% revealed that it instead became a cause of quarrels. Refusal on the part of any of the members to pay their half of the subscription fee could be a possible reason for the same.

While sharing of passwords may seem like no big deal and an excellent way to show your confidence in your partner, your privacy comes at great threat if you fail to take proper precautions, notes Harold Li, ExpressVPN‘s vice president. He further stated that if one is considering sharing login info with their significant other, it’s imperative that one follows rigorous password hygiene. At the same time, one must avoid setting similar password combinations for other platforms or passing thereof via unsecure methods such as text messages.

ExpressVPN’s data isn’t the first of its kind to report such findings. In 2018, Better Buy Insurance surveyed and laid in its report that 41% of people regretted giving their partners access to their accounts, and changing their passwords was the first thing most of them did immediately after their breakup.

After taking into account all these conclusions, it does seem like the sharing of passwords habit doesn’t do any apparent good to the relationship. Besides, who would fancy their feed being ruined by an ex?
