The Best And Worst Sports For Your Health (3 of 3)

Football, Soccer, Sports equipment, Daytime, Football, Shorts, Vertebrate, World, Ball, Nature, People in nature

Avoid this: Soccer

This one might come as a surprise. How is kicking a ball around a field a potential health risk? Actually, due to the lack of protective gear and the fast-paced action of the sport, you’re susceptible to broken bones and even concussions. As everybody knows, sustaining too many concussions can lead to neurodegenerative diseases. Also, getting kicked in the shins all the time is never a good thing.

Swimming, Water, Vertebrate, Muscle, Swimming pool, Azure, People in nature

Do this instead: Swimming

Of all the “do this” sports, this is the…um..doey-est. It’s completely low-impact, which makes it perfect no matter your age. On a personal note, my grandma was still swimming in her late 80s to stay in shape. It provides a full-body workout and burns a ton of calories. Can’t stand the heat? Swimming in water cools you off while you still get good exercise. Also, even if you can’t swim like a pro, you can still paddle your legs and receive support from the staff.
