Preserving Cheese
We’ve all bought a piece of cheese because we really felt like having a lot of cheese, only to cut off two chunks and realize you may want to finish this some other day. Vinegar will slow down the rate at which molds can grow on your food, enabling you to enjoy that piece of cheese a lot longer before it goes bad.
Tenderizing Meat
If you’re making a good slice of meat, you’re going to want to tenderize it first. It sounds like a lot of extra work, but it really isn’t and it’ll produce such a lovely texture. Instead of using a mallet to hammer away at your steak, you could also use a mix of vinegar and broth. You’ll want to marinate your meat in this for a few hours while in the fridge, also poking holes in the meat so your mixture can really get in there. Granted, it does take a lot longer than just beating it a few times.
