1990

This certainly marked a new era, creating a distinct transition from the high waisted V-shaped bottoms to something that’s just a step-less from looking like a boxer.

Helmut Lang was the designer of this look back in the 1990s.

1991-1992

The early 90s hit it off with the introduction of neon graphic prints. Bikini tops, of all kinds, be it strapless, camisole cuts, plunging necklines or halter necks, started to get paired with boxer shorts and skirts.

The color scheme changed too- from bold and soft solids to electric colors like neon pink or blue. The print was not solid or floral either, it transitioned into being more graphic.

1993

The Southern California look created in the previous year sustained its reign, as the “Baywatch” look stepped in.

One-pieces were back in style yet again, with more of a plunging round U-shaped neck like that of a regular tank top and a high cut V-shaped bottom. Bathing suits like these were solely curated to help highlight a woman’s curves in the best possible way, without shrinking the coverage or lining down.

1994

This is the year when the spotlight shined on the ‘glam’ factor. Stone studded tops, belly chains, and embellished clothes started to steal the show.

While minimalism was still quite the trend at this time, a major part of the masses started gearing towards the ‘glamorous, over the top’ look- even if it was in bikinis.

1995

The “grunge quotes” that you probably google or surf on Tumblr were born in this year. The “grunge” style was brought into the spotlight with more muted, earthy tones (mostly dark). Bandeau tops were the hype paired with oversized bottoms to create a raw, rogue look.
