Best Pets To Have If You Are Allergic To Them (2 of 2)

Reptiles & Fish

For those looking to go another route, you can always consider a fish or some kind of a reptile.

Fish is a good choice for those who want a low-maintenance pet. Best of all, fish don’t have fur nor shed, so you’re safe in being around them. What’s also nice with fish is they can be as intrusive to your space as you’d like.

While fish aren’t invasive, their tanks can take up space. With this in mind, you can decide in turn how many fish you want and how big of a tank you want as well.

If you’re not really into getting a pet fish, here are some reptiles to consider:

  • Tortoises – While tortoises feed on bugs, there are herbivorous tortoises, which can make feeding easier for you. Pair that up with other turtle attributes and you’ve got an easy to maintain tortoise.
  • Iguanas – They’re pretty cool-looking and the feeding is easy as well. Similar to tortoises, there are herbivore options in green and desert iguanas, making it easy for even squeamish pet owners.

Birds

The last section we’ll cover are birds. Naturally, their coats are thin and considering how tiny they are, they are easy to look after and aren’t known to cause people to sneeze. Here are some particular birds to consider:

  • Finches – These low allergen birds are great options so long as you’re willing to get them in pairs. These are social birds so you’ll want them to be around other birds.
  • Canaries – Generally speaking, these are your generic option for a bird. Can’t go wrong with them and they are delightful to look at.
  • Parakeets – The last option are parakeets. They are talkative, musical, and sweet. They’re great pets all around. This is one of the larger birds out of the three we mentioned, but these birds are still pretty small in comparison. This means there is less dander and therefore less allergens.
