Al Gore may be one of the most visually transformed figures on the list. He was elected vice president in 1992 at the age of 44 and was slim and youthful. Eight years later, when he ran for president in 2000, he was still holding up quite well, although he presented a notably formal image: dark hair, dark suits and the somewhat stern appearance that became familiar during his race against Bush. He was noticeably tan during the presidential debates. Photographs from that campaign show a man who looked considerably younger than today’s Gore. These days the 78-year-old’s hair is completely white, and he’s gained weight. But he still keeps a busy schedule, raising awareness about climate change.
