When the president died suddenly from a cerebral hemorrhage, Fala reportedly barked mournfully. And according to First Lady Elenanor Roosevelt, Fala never accepted FDR’s death. Whenever sirens announced a visitor to their cottage, Fala would run to the door expecting his dear master to waltz in.
