Her sentiment is pretty reasonable. At that point in her life, she had mostly been familiar with the experience of being one of the few Black people in a room, and then suddenly in her late teens, she discovered an entire university campus filled with people who share aspects of her background.

But now, people in MAGAland are loudly accusing Harris of hypocrisy because, several decades later, she has apparently realized another crucial aspect of adulthood: houses vary in price depending on their location!

The criticism stems from Harris’s actual record on housing. As California attorney general, she joined a Supreme Court brief supporting the use of the Fair Housing Act’s disparate-impact standard. Then during her 2020 presidential campaign, she proposed $100 billion in assistance for families in historically redlined communities. As vice president, she promoted administration efforts addressing racial disparities in home appraisals.
