A Mongolian Horse Named Victory

During Trump’s first presidency, Barron received a living, breathing horse from Mongolia’s then-president, Khaltmaagiin Battulga. The horse was named Victory and remained in Mongolia for obvious reasons.

Giving horses to visiting dignitaries is a long-standing Mongolian tradition, so the gesture carried more cultural meaning than simple luxury. Some people compared Victory with expensive American racehorses, but those comparisons do not establish the horse’s actual value. Its importance lies mainly in its rarity as a diplomatic gift, and not the number of zeroes on the price tag.

The 2018 World Cup Soccer Ball

At a 2018 meeting in Helsinki, Putin gave Donald Trump a soccer ball associated with that year’s FIFA World Cup. Donald immediately said the ball would go to Barron, who was already a huge soccer fan.

The funny thing is that there is no public evidence that that particular ball was used in the final or any other World Cup match. Sadly, Trump trusts Putin, so he blindly believed the story and went along with it.

Whatever the real story was, it was the connection to two world leaders that made this ball valuable. Without an auction or professional appraisal, however, the value of Barron’s ball remains anyone’s guess.
