4. Lana Candor and Noah Centineo for To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

The first installation of the To All the Boys franchise, which was released in 2018, was a huge box office success. Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, whose onscreen chemistry was undeniable, played up this fact heavily, posting sweet comments on each other’s social media accounts for weeks on end. However, it’s unlikely that anything actually happened between the two of them. Candor was very much in a relationship with Anthony de la Torre (whom she would go on to tie the knot with in 2024) and Centineo was seeing model Alexis Ren.

5. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson for the Twilight Saga

When the first Twilight movie was released in 2008, fans desperately wanted to believe rumors that the romance between Bella Swan and Edward Cullen had spilled over into real life for stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. The two were linked through the duration of the saga, coincidentally calling it quits right after the final movie finished up its press tour. Stewart went on to come out when she hosted Saturday Night Life in 2017, adding to the suspicion that she and Pattinson probably weren’t ever a couple.
