Before Donald Trump became one of the most prominent political figures in the world, he was already a familiar presence on screen. Long before his presidency, Trump appeared in a range of films and television shows throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, often playing a version of himself: a high-profile New York businessman whose name was closely associated with wealth, celebrity, and real estate. These appearances reflected both his public image at the time and the entertainment industry’s interest in larger-than-life personalities.
Here are 9 of Donald Trump’s most memorable TV and movie cameos.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)
This one is easily Trump’s most famous cameo, mostly because millions of people rewatch Home Alone 1 and 2 every Christmas and suddenly get jumpscared by DJT. The scene is brief and charming: Kevin strolls through the Plaza Hotel, inquires about the location of the lobby, and Trump directs him accordingly. That’s about as excellent as it gets. But because the Plaza was owned by Trump at the time, some strange behind-the-scenes rumors started swirling. Director Chris Columbus later claimed Trump made his appearance a condition of filming in the hotel, but, of course, Trump denied that and said they wanted him in the movie.
