According to Brock, the key to making the reality show feel truly “Canadian” was by choosing participants from every part of the country. The selection process also put emphasis on authentic personalities. Rather than adhere to a tightly controlled script, Brock allowed conflict between cast members to unfold naturally. As a veteran of reality TV, Brock was used to drama, but she didn’t realize arguments would get so heated that security had to get involved before things descended into chaos.
In the fall of 2025, when the cast assembled for a publicity event, they identified two of their roommates—Christopher Brown and Lila Romanin—as the primary rebelrousers. Ethan Maynard, a 23-year-old DJ who hails from Newmarket, Ontario, recalled how the pair seemed to start every conflict and that it had a negative effect on the rest of the cast. Brown, a 22-year-old club promoter from Toronto, doesn’t deny that he made things complicated for the rest, stating his bad behavior was done largely out of boredom. He also mentioned meshing well with Romanin, a 20-year-old college student from Toronto. For her part, Romanin admits to being brash and opinionated, and that the rest of the group resented the fact that she was always right.
