Actor Harry Lloyd (who happens to be the great-great-great-grandson of Charles Dickens) brings a lot of manic energy and arrogance into the role of the insane, self-styled King-in-Exile who was willing to sell his sister Daenerys to the Dothraki in order to claim the Iron Throne. The way he meets his end by molten gold is poetic justice.
7. Ser Alliser Thorne
Loyal to the Night’s Watch, Thorne is gruff and bitter, and has a rivalry with Jon Snow that feels deeply human. Despite the fact that he kills Snow—literally the main protagonist on the show—we’re willing to let that slide because he’s such a rich, multilayered character. His own remorseful, dignified death redeems him in our minds.
