7 Actors Who Were Cancelled By Hollywood

Occasionally, an actor’s career may be flourishing until they unexpectedly find themselves marginalized. Despite their praise, no one calls them, even for seemingly ideal roles. Sometimes they’ve experienced a career disruption because they’ve been outspoken about unjust industry practices, they’ve stood up to powerful figures, or they’ve been labeled too difficult to work with. In light of this, we present a list of 7 actors who appeared on Hollywood’s blacklist.

Rose McGowan

McGowan became a breakout star in the mid-90s, landing multiple roles for the next decade and receiving several nominations and awards for her work. She even famously dated Marilyn Manson for 3 ½ years. But once she started speaking out against Hollywood’s rape culture—and in particular the powerful movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who was subsequently convicted of sexual assault—major studios began to avoid her. However, she was also recognized by Timeas one of the “Silent Breakers” who helped bring the #MeToo movement to the forefront. These days she lives in Mexico, where she gained citizenship in 2021, and has stated she has no plans to live in the US again.
