10 Onscreen Couples That Failed To Find Chemistry (3 of 6)

Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann (Pirates of The Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl, 2003)

Despite being the central romantic pairing in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley’s portrayal of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann lacked convincing chemistry. Their interactions often felt awkward and strained, failing to capture the passion and depth that their characters’ relationship demanded. Although Bloom openly admitted he had a crush on Knightley in real life, it unfortunately never translated onto the big screen.

Daenerys and Jon (Game of Thrones, 2011–2019)

The lack of chemistry between Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington, who played Daenerys and Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, is often cited as a weakness of the show’s later seasons. Their romantic relationship felt forced and unconvincing, lacking any sort of sizzle that would have made their love story more compelling. Fans of the series have offered several explanations, including the characters’ conflicting personalities, the rushed development of their relationship, and the actors’ own lack of natural chemistry.
