Of all the comic book romantic relationships, few are as lovely or compelling as Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson’s. In particular, they are constantly having to overcome obstacles to be together, which makes their bond even stronger. But there was nothing about the Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst pairing that could convince audiences that they were in a relationship full of deep, complicated emotions. With the exception of the scene where they’re kissing while Parker is hanging upside down, there just isn’t much there.
