2. Gabrielle – Anya Taylor-Joy
As Xena’s companion, few characters are as essential to the series as Gabrielle. So it goes without saying that only an actress of a certain caliber could do justice to the role. With critically-acclaimed performances in “The Queen’s Gambit,” “Last Night in Soho,” and “Menu,” under her belt, we dare you to suggest anybody more ideal than Anya Taylor-Joy. Taylor-Joy’s acting skills, particularly her ability to portray vulnerability and strength simultaneously, would bring a fresh dynamism to Gabrielle’s character. Plus, her chemistry with Florence Pugh, both off and on-screen, could recreate the convincingly sincere camaraderie shared between Xena and Gabrielle.
3. Ares – John Boyega
Known for his charming persona and physical agility (something on full display in the Star Wars sequel trilogy), John Boyega would be our pick for Ares. His strong energy, combined with the ability to portray tough characters, could lend a unique appeal to Ares, the God of War. Boyega could use his acting chops to take Ares to another level, blending the god’s cunning mind with a layered personality that could add to the overall richness of the series.
