3. Bob and Charlotte — Lost in Translation
It isn’t necessarily a surprise that Bob and Charlotte bond over their mutual depression, loneliness, and unsatisfying marriages as the two meet at a hotel in the strange, massive megapolis of Tokyo. But what is kind of weird is the passionate kiss they share at the end of the movie when they say their goodbyes given their 35-year age gap. But because we as the audience feel somewhat invested in their friendship (which had seemed very much platonic up to this point), this is one where we all kind of give this movie a pass.
2. Han and Leia — Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
From the moment Princess Leia is rescued on the Death Star in “A New Hope,” it is clear that she and Han Solo don’t get along. They’re resigned to the fact that they have no choice but to work together in order to save the galaxy from the evil Empire. But in “Empire Strikes Back,” Han starts developing feelings for Leia while she shows absolutely no interest in him. So of course he corners her and shoves his tongue into her mouth, seemingly without her consent. But, hey, it worked out in the end, right? They got married and went on to create their son Ben, which provided an excuse for Disney to make the sucky Star Wars sequel trilogy.
