6. Mark and Juliet — Love Actually

When Mark attends the wedding of his best friend Peter and his bride Juliet, Mark proceeds to treat Juliet coldly, leading the couple to believe he has something against her. But nope. With zero explanation, Mark shows up at their door and with the aid of cue cards expresses his love for her. As he walks away, Juliet inexplicably chases after him and gives him a quick smooch, with her secret feelings for him also never being explained.

5. Graham and Amanda — The Holiday

Amanda decides to get over a bad breakup by spending a vacation in England. Using a home-swapping website, she finds a place to stay for two weeks, but decides she doesn’t like it. Meanwhile, Graham — the brother of the guy who owns this house — drops by in a drunken state and asks to stay there. Amanda agrees, and after a brief chat where they still don’t even know each other (and remember, the dude is drunk) he just goes in for the kiss. Does she mind? Nope. She likes it because that’s Hollywood for you.

4. George and Lucy — A Room With a View

Although the chemistry between George and Lucy is apparent when they first meet, this isn’t addressed at all for most of the remaining movie. He does help her when she suffers from a fainting episode, but it isn’t until the end when she spots in him a poppy field that he finally plants a big wet one. She’s taken aback but doesn’t resist.
