Tom Ford

Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, and his own Tom Ford brand have all benefited from the iconic designer’s skills. With all these credentials, you would think the designer would go all out with his style choices. Ford; however, chooses to keep his style simple; a well-fitting Tom Ford suit in black. When not in a suit, then Ford is in another all-black outfit. An interview with Mr. Porter reveals that the designer feels most ‘’comfortable and confident in it’’, which is why he chooses to wear all black.
He also said, “It is important to find your own sense of style, your own look, something that makes you feel confident. Never wear things that you don’t love just because someone else tells you that you should. I personally tend to feel the best in dark colors.’’ The designer added once that he often feels ‘’weak’’ when not in a suit, and that “A suit is an armor. You know, I’m not good in knitwear. I feel mushy and soft. I’m not good at anything but a boot. I feel solid and grounded.”
Hillary Clinton
One of the trending topics surrounding Hillary Clinton in 2016 while running for presidential elections was funnily enough; the reason behind the presidential candidate’s choice of kitten heels, matching pantsuit, mostly in a bright color. Her memoir What Happened, revealed an explanation from Clinton on why she often wore the uniform. She said, “I did this because I like pantsuits. They make me feel professional and ready to go.”
She also revealed that her outfit choice had something to do with equality, noting that male politicians often wear the same similar suits every day and that as a woman running for president, she liked the “visual cue” that she represented something “different from the men but also familiar.” And finally, she stated that it was a technique to keep people from paying too much attention to her choice of clothes, stating, “A uniform was also an anti-distraction technique: since there wasn’t much to say or report on what I wore, maybe people would focus on what I was saying instead.”
Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg is another tech mogul who keeps to a never-changing uniform. Even though Zuckerberg makes the effort to step into a suit or more formal outfits for special occasions, the tech genius is typical to be seen in a gray t-shirt and jeans. During a Q&A session in 2014, the question about his choice of clothing was thrown, and Zuckerberg answered, “I really want to clear my life to make it so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything except how to best serve this community.”
He went on to say, “I’m in this really lucky position, where I get to wake up every day and help serve more than a billion people. And I feel like I’m not doing my job if I spend any of my energy on things that are silly or frivolous about my life.” The brain behind Facebook has also joked about his monotonous wardrobe. In 2016, Zuckerberg posted a photo on Facebook which showed a closet full of his regular gray t-shirts, cheekily captioning the photo, “The first day back after paternity leave. What should I wear?”
