This Is How All The Top Legendary Models Were Actually Discovered! (2 of 7)

Grace Jones

Like most of the other models in this list, Grace too was a simple girl growing up in New York.

She loved dancing and doing theatres, but modeling was never on her mind. However, a scout from Wilhelmina Models saw her spark and offered her the opportunity to sign up with their agency.

Fernanda Ly

What appears at the first sight is that her unique pink hair color must have acted as a blessing for her modeling career. That idea isn’t wrong and it was actually due to her hair that she attracted a modeling scout’s attention. She was approached while shopping with her mother.

After she got the approval from a renowned casting director, she decided to pursue modeling with her all.

Neelam Gill

Gill was completing her high school in London when she was discovered by a modeling scout.

She landed herself a contract with Burberry at the age of 19. This turned out to be a pathbreaker for her modeling career, as quoted by ELLE. Neelam was the first-ever Indian model to be the face of Burberry.

Liu Wen

Liu wasn’t quite sure if she had it in herself to make it big as a model. However, when encouraged by her mother, she agreed to participate in a modeling contest. Though she didn’t come out as a winner, it made her realize her potential. She stayed on the path and is now considered one of the best in the business.

Lais Ribeiro

Ribeiro was not as lucky as some other women on this list. Modeling was her passion, but she faced a lot of rejections when she was starting. In an interview with Daily Mail, Lais shared that she was not getting accepted as a model due to her too lean figure; that and because she was “not curvy.” Her relentlessness paid off and she entered in one national-level competition. That’s how she got recognized by many and decided to shift to New York to keep herself going.
