MJ has been surrounded by controversies ever since his rise as a pop star. The King of Pop was accused of changing his skin color and features and was also caught in possession of drugs numerous times, but it was allegations of child abuse that really rocked the pop star.

Since he was first accused of sexual assault back in 1993, MJ had quite a difficult time dealing with the press. He even put all his music commitments on pause and tried to avoid the prying eyes of the press for a few years. However, even after this death, the controversy rages on. A 2019 documentary detailed all the abuse allegations against the idolized artist, but many have disputed these because of the fact that MJ is not here to defend himself anymore.

R Kelly

R Kelly has had similar run-ins with controversy as MJ did. The major one broke out when he married the popular star Aaliyah when the singer was apparently just fifteen years old. And following her death, R Kelly faced allegations of multiple relationships with underage girls and got himself arrested in 2002 for possession of child pornography.

Back in 2018, a lot more women have come forward and shared their stories about the abuse they faced. Kelly surrendered to the police and was sent to jail the very same day, with the bail amount being $1m. Despite all his claims of success, R Kelly is “canceled” once and for all.

Nicki Minaj is one of the biggest rap stars, and it is not a surprise that she finds her name popping up in controversies every now and then. From claiming she was marrying Drake on Twitter to trying to exorcise her alter-ego Roman on stage and dissing numerous celebs such as DJ Khaled and Lil Kim, Minaj is always up for it.

Recently, the rapper has accused Travis Scott of trying to sabotage her first week sales. But it was soon not so newsworthy when a new controversy emerged as Cardi B threw a shoe at her – something which was unheard of amongst celebs.
