Revisiting the absolute worst and cringiest movies of the past 60 years (9 of 12)

Battlefield Earth: 2000

This movie was such a disaster that it was proclaimed the worst movie of the century. What is surprising is that it was bankrolled by a major production studio and was backed by an A-list Hollywood star. Also, this is another John Travolta offering we see on the list! The movie was so unoriginal for a big-budget film, and seemed more like a random gamut of sci-fi elements, like buildings from Blade Runner and the aliens that were basically Klingons and the jets seemed to resemble those from Star Wars.

Glitter: 2001

Mariah Carey’s foray in acting is just a disaster. But boy can she sing!

Ballistic – Ecks vs. Sever: 2002

This FBI espionage caper is described as a career-low for Lucy Liu and Antonio Banderas. The movie is high on special effects, while being low on continuity. Also, a tiny question – why are American agents launching rockets and setting off bombs all over Vancouver?

From Justin to Kelly: 2003

The musical is so disappointing that every time someone breaks into a song or a dance the film trips over its own feet. The movie tries to bring a shake-the-rafters power ballad punch with cell phones and whipped cream bikini contests, but it just doesn’t have the energy, charm, or heart of the 60’s beach blanket spring break movies. To be honest, instead of Miami, the film could have just been set in Sea World for all its worth.

Super babies – Baby Geniuses 2: 2004

How to make a film with the cutest babies into a ghastly shitshow of cooing baby-talking adults? This movie is your answer.
