The H1N1 (swine flu) epidemic was taking over

As if enough wasn’t happening already, there was a severe outbreak of the H1N1 virus in the States. The cities were working on administering vaccines to the public. By the beginning of 2010, there were twelve thousand confirmed cases of death in the U.S caused by the virus. Ever since then, authorities have maintained a strict watch and control over the spread of the flu in the form of preventive measures.

 

 

Taxi cabs were still prevalent in the city streets before ride-sharing came in

Taxis were the way to get around before Uber detonated onto the scene back in March of 2009, and the possibilities of commute have since been brimming the streets of metropolitan cities. With facilities such as Uber and Lyft at the touch of a button, we can unlock all types of vehicles.

 

 

There was a spike in the housing crisis

Due to the Great Recession, these were mortgage defaults and were expropriated, creating a record 2.9 percent vacancy rate for owned homes back in February 2009. Many houses were seized and left abandoned due to the housing crisis.

 

 

We were advancing towards The Great Recession

Back then, the world was heading towards the Great Recession. There was a growing worldwide outrage during that time against the world governments due to a lack of money flow, stability, jobs, and opportunities. It isn’t actually possible today for us to understand those struggles, but we can only imagine the plight of those who had to suffer unconditionally due to the Recession.

 

 

One World Trade had just begun construction

One World Trade, the tallest building in the U.S finished construction in 2014 after the time consumed in permit processing, and other similar issues delayed its construction. The building had started its construction in 2009, eight years after the 9/11 attack. Now that five years have passed since tenants moved to settle down in the area, downtown Manhattan seems to be moving again.
