The World’s 8 Best Ethnic Cuisines (2 of 5)

Thai Cuisine

If you’ve ever enjoyed Thai food, you’ve probably been impressed by the variety of curries that are available; try the red when you want something spicy; green when you want even more spicy but a nice coconut finish; or yellow when you want all of the flavor but without the fire. Or if curries aren’t your thing, pork fried with rice and chili peppers might be right up your alley. Duck, chicken, and even water buffalo are common meats in most of the country, but you’ll also find lamb and mutton down south. Of course, there are also plenty of vegetarian options if eating animals isn’t your thing.

Chinese Cuisine

Although western countries love “Chinese” food, in reality a better description would be “Chinese inspired” cuisine that caters to western tastes. While dishes in the PRC are commonly served with rice and noodles, they are far more exotic than what you’ll find at an American-style or European-styleChinese restaurant. Szechuan peppers, for instance, numb the mouth in a weird, unexpected way, which admittedly takes some getting used to. But it pairs up perfectly with chicken dishes. The way they prepare whole baked fish, braised pork, and beef is insanely good and full of flavors you’ve never experienced, which is why it is difficult to describe unless you try it yourself.
